Frequently Asked Questions

A few quick answers to help you plan your time at Come Away. If you don’t see your question here, I’m happy to help!

Travel

Everything you need to know before arriving in Texas.

Which airport should I fly into?

The closest airport is Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) , located approximately 10 minutes from the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center.

Is transportation provided?

Yes! We will provide conference shuttle service from DFW Airport to the Gaylord Texan between 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM on Monday, April 5.

If your flight arrives slightly outside that time block, please let me know. While we cannot guarantee transportation for every flight, we will do our best to accommodate you with the conference shuttle whenever possible.

Transportation back to the airport at the conclusion of the conference is not provided, so attendees should plan accordingly.

What if I’m driving?

You’re welcome to drive to the conference.

Parking at the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center is available for $29 per day, subject to change by the hotel.

Complimentary parking is available at Cross City Church for conference activities or overnight parking.

Conference Schedule

What to expect as the week begins and how to prepare.

What time does the conference begin?

The conference officially begins at 6:00 PM on Monday, April 5 , with our Welcome Dinner.

This special evening is designed to help everyone settle in, meet fellow attendees, and begin the week together over a relaxed meal before conference sessions begin Tuesday morning.

A detailed schedule is available on the Schedule page.

What should I wear?

Casual, comfortable clothing is perfect for conference sessions.

Helpful Items to Pack

Comfortable clothing and walking shoes for activities
A light sweater or jacket, as meeting rooms can sometimes be cool

Sandals or other comfortable footwear for relaxing poolside

Monday Welcome Dinner

Classy Western Wear

Our Monday evening Welcome Dinner will feature a Western theme, and classy Western attire is encouraged. Feel free to have fun with boots, denim, and your favorite Western-inspired outfit.

Participation in the theme is completely optional, so wear whatever makes you feel comfortable.

Will there be free time?

Yes—and intentionally so.

Come Away is designed to provide both meaningful professional development and genuine opportunities to rest, recharge, and enjoy fellowship with other ministry assistants.

We hope you’ll leave not only with new ideas and practical resources, but feeling refreshed and encouraged.

Meals & Dietary Needs

What is included and how we can prepare for you.

Are meals included?

Your registration includes:

Monday Welcome Dinner
Tuesday–Thursday breakfast
Tuesday–Thursday lunch

Several evenings are intentionally left open for attendees to enjoy dinner with friends, explore Grapevine, or simply relax at the resort.

The Gaylord Texan also offers many well-reviewed on-site restaurants, making it easy to enjoy a great meal without leaving the property.

Can dietary restrictions be accommodated?

Absolutely! After registering, you’ll receive a brief conference questionnaire where you can let us know about food allergies, dietary restrictions, and other accommodations that will help us prepare for your arrival.

Activities

Join in, slow down, or choose the kind of rest you need.

Do I have to participate in every activity?

Not at all.

Activities are optional. If you’d rather spend an afternoon relaxing at the resort, enjoying quiet conversation, exploring the property, or simply resting, that’s perfectly okay.

We hope you’ll leave feeling both encouraged and refreshed.

Are activities included?

Yes! All scheduled conference activities are included with your registration unless otherwise noted on the schedule.

What is the Local Adventure with Pastor John?

A little Texas adventure.

The Local Adventure is a special activity created specifically for spouses and male ministry assistants, giving them their own opportunity to enjoy rest, relaxation, fellowship, and a little Texas fun.

The final activity will be determined by the number of participants and group interest. Possibilities may include:

Texas Rangers game
Golf
Skeet shooting
Another local adventure

Just like the rest of Come Away, the goal isn’t simply to stay busy—it’s to create space to connect with others, enjoy God’s creation, and return home refreshed.

Participation is completely optional, and the Local Adventure is included with conference registration unless otherwise noted.

A few final details before you pack your bags.
